There is no sound but the old trees rattling their frozen bones beneath a mercurial silver winter sky. Again I watch the earth pass below my feet and plead with the dead heavens for renewal, but none ever seems to come. Will this be the year I breathe once more?

Whenever there's a fire,
people always say,
it doesn't really matter
just as long as you're okay
Items can be replaced but people can't
But what about the memories that all those items hold?
The things that tell you all about them times of old.
When you meet that one demise,
how will they remember?
In the end they might pretend that all those things are just some clutter
But what about the memories they hold?
The lives,
the stories,
passed on and on until finally no more.
Lest we forget,
when at we finally do forget.

the killdeer is dead.
my little girl cried for a week.
she cried for that noisy little
feather-devil, that god-forsaken
puppet.
that warmed-fleshed thing that
kept me up all night with it's
whining.
i loathed it's dependancy on me.
"i need food"
"i need water"
"i need love"
"mommy, make it stop"

please!)
i'll be honest with God,
she scares me.
that blonde haired,
brown eyed creature that i birthed.
she scares me with her gaze.
